The other day I read a great article posted by a mixed media site I subscribe to. I love all the great ideas and techniques they put out, but this post especially caught my attention because it was all about setting an Intention for the New Year.
Taken from an excerpt from a book called “Creative Thursdays", by artist Marisa Anne; the author talks about making an Intention vs. a Resolution. Which, if you’re like me – I start the New Year with lots of great resolutions but it’s not always easy to actually make them happen.
In the post, Intention is defined as,
“A course of action that one intends to follow.”
It goes on to discuss how Intention along with “Inspired Action” can help us be more creative in our lives. The author then lists a series of steps you can follow to help you take Inspired Action. Although I'm a creative type; I still can appreciate a great tutorial so I love it when people spell out how to do things! :-)
One of my intentions this year is to make things that feel more true to my aesthetics and that hopefully inspire others. I’m also super interested in learning more about Mixed Media so I Intend to incorporate those techniques in what I make as well.
I’ve already started by revamping the cover of a 2013 calendar I purchased recently. I guess you could say I made the cover into a mobile Vision Board – I’ll carry the calendar with me as a way to keep me inspired.
